How to Archive / Purge Events from a ChangeAuditor 6.0 database

Description:
The Archive / Purge function that was available on the Administration tab in previous versions of ChangeAuditor is no longer available in ChangeAuditor 6.0. However, the ChangeAuditor 6.0 Data Migration tool can now be used to copy old events to another database and remove the events from the active ChangeAuditor 6.0 database.
 
Resolution:
Follow these steps to Purge and Archive old events in the active ChangeAuditor 6.0 database to a newly created archive database:
  1. Right-click the ChangeAuditor Coordinator icon the Windows system tray and select Coordinator Configuration
  2. Note the SQL Server and Instance, Name of database Catalog, and Connect using information and click cancel
  3. Right-click the ChangeAuditor Coordinator icon on the Windows system tray and select Data Migration Tool
  4. On the Source Database tab, enter the SQL Server and Instance, Connect using , and Name of database Catalog, information from Step 2
  5. Click the Destination Database tab
  6. Enter the SQL Server and Instance information from step 2 or specify a different SQL instance in the SQL Server Instance field
  7. Enter the Connect using information from Step 2 in the Connect Using field
  8. In the Database Name field, enter a name for a database which does not exist on the SQL instance. For Example, ChangeAuditor_old.
    *Note: The name of an existing ChangeAuditor 6.0 archive database can be selected if one exists
  9. Click the Options tab
  10. To Purge Events from the active ChangeAuditor database, select Remove old data during migration
  11. Select Migrate only events in the following date range and select the desired date range
  12. For Migration Mode, Select Fast Copy if this is a new ChangeAuditor archive database or Checked Merged if there are existing events in the archive database
  13. Click Start Migration
  14. If a new Database was specified, click Yes on the ‘The destination database does not exist, or is blank. Do you want to initialize the new database’ pop-up
  15. Click the X in the top right-hand corner once Migration displays the Complete status
Internal Notes:
Database Migration tool currently produces unexpected results on ChangeAuditor 6.0 (up to and included 6.0.156). Please do not use the steps described in this article until TF00xxxxxx is addressed by R&D and hotfix build is released
